After years of neck ties, DVD box sets and cologne as gifts, I decided I have to get creative and get my Dad something really exciting for his birthday this year. After racking my brain I decided to surf the web for some unique gift ideas. I love the internet! Most of my great ideas are from landing on some website offering up some information on something I never would have thought of on my own.
This time I landed on Viagogo.co.uk. That’s when it hit me, why not take my Dad to a cool concert or sporting event? I can’t believe I didn’t think of this before. I hit the website and there I instantly saw at least 10 shows and events I know I want to check out. Now it’s narrowing it down to which one to choose for my Dad’s birthday. He loves sports, but he’s real passion is for music. If it was my choice, I think I’d be looking at the Coldplay, Madonna or Nickelback tickets. But, to be fair, I don’t really think any of them are at the top of my Dad’s list, he’s a little old school. Instead, I think it’s probably between the Barry Manilow Tickets or maybe even the Tina Turner Tickets. This is really going to be tough!
Barry Manilow makes me think of romance and middle aged women swooning over the music, so that may be better left to a date with my Mom. On the other hand, we could really jam out to “Mandy” and “Copacabana”. I can still hear my Dad singing along with the radio, “At the Copa, Copacabana… The hottest spot north of Havana…”. I hear those tickets can be hard to get. Viagogo has them though, so if I make the choice, I can easily buy them on-line right from that website.
I have to say though, Tina Turner still knows how to seriously rock out. I can just see my Dad jumping up and down when Tina busts out with “What’s Love Got To Do With It” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero”. Both classic tunes! I actually have her album, “Private Dancer” and it comes with exclusive UK bonus tracks. I love “Don’t Rush the Good Things”. Wow, this is really a tough choice.
On second thought, my Dad really could use a laugh. They also have stand up comedian, Steve Coogan Tickets. That guy is a riot! I heard his new tour is called “Steve Coogan Is Alan Partridge and Other Less Successful Characters”. I remember when he created Alan Partridge back in the late 90’s. My Dad still talks about the TV show, I’m Alan Partridge. A couple of tickets to see him might just be the best choice. Dinner, drinks and a great show… sounds like I can’t go wrong!
Next up, some Coldplay tickets !
